Travel Council Building

Architect: ENTELEN / Steven R. Burt, AIA

The Capitol Preservation Board requested an evaluation of the HVAC system in the historic Travel Council Building. Upper floors were over heating due to restricted duct space bringing air from the basement of the facility. A new HVAC system was designed for placement in the attic space in order to serve the building's upper floor tenants. The lower floor system was modified including equipment replacement. A stone enclosure of similar sandstone design was built to house condensing units adjacent to the building. Additional work included removal of the sandstone deck around the entire facility, removal of a deteriorating sub-base and replacement with concrete stabilization slabs. The sandstone was replaced, the joints filled with an elastic compound and the entire decking was later sealed.
